Plants That Thrive in Office Environments
Bamboo: Perfect for any desk or workspace. Its decorative and low-maintenance. Bamboo can survive with minimal sunlight and water. Bamboo also tends to grow fast and for decorative, desk size Bamboo plants you could see them shoot upward fairly fast. There are also many myths and legends stemming from the Bamboo plant. The Philippine creation myth tells us that the first man and the first woman each emerged from split bamboo stems on an island created after the battle of the elemental forces (Sky and Ocean).
Spider Plants: If you are looking for a hanging plant for your office spider plants are the way to go. They are easy to grow indoors and the hanging spider blossoms can be transplanted to create multiple plants. They usually grow pretty fast so you can be hanging spider plants all over your office in no time!
Cactus: They come in a variety of shapes and sizes – choose a small one for your desk top or a taller species in a large pot for a nice floor plant. It is well-known that cacti require practically no water, sunlight or pruning, making them perfect for the office. Some variety’s even flower adding a nice touch of color.

Rubber Plants: These plants can survive periods of low light – although be warned they will start to lose their lower leaves. These don’t grow back but rather the plant begins to sprout new leaves from the top. So the higher the light source the better. In addition they are known to really scrub the air. In fact the rubber plant ranked fourth in effectiveness in a NASA study of plants that clean the air!
